Ana Kraš

Intimacy, spontaneity and dynamism are some of the adjectives that come to our minds when thinking of Ana Kras work. She is able to create infinite sceneries, and thus let us enter a world of joy and intrigue, where one can almost breathe and touch the special mood captured on every image. Her black & white pictures may take us to a fictional realm as cinema does, since her photography recalls some of Antonioni or Fellini’s work.

We: Where are you from and what do you do?

Ana: I was born in Belgrade, Serbia, and i still live here tho i move around quite a lot. I like to work on different projects but lately i am mostly focused on furniture design, tho i also draw, and take photographs.

W: Why
ikebana?
A: There's not a strong reason. I have a friend called Lele and i used to call him Ukulele. So he did the same with my name, calling me Ikebana instead of Ana. Since i like the word itself, and the meaning, i adopted it as a pseudonim for photo-albums i am making.

W: What does art mean to you?

A: I don't know and always get anxious with that word. It's not a precise word and i alway wonder what it means.

W: Where do you find inspiration?

A: I am not aware of my inspirations, but i guess emotions inspire the most. I get strong emotions with ugly things too.

W: Which are your favourite artists?
A: Michelangelo Antonioni and Caspar Friedrich David.

W: Future plans?
A: My secret plan is to go to the seaside next week, after that i have no plans. I am very bad at planning.
